(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Graham Arnold admitted that he was very worried when his player touched his hand in the penalty area, but in the end, VAR technology sided with the Australian team.

Despite being rated much higher, the Australian team encountered many difficulties during their away match at My Dinh Stadium, and only won narrowly 1-0.

Coach Graham Arnold admitted his team had a tough match: “The Vietnamese team really caused us a lot of difficulties. I always thought that coming here is not easy. The Vietnamese team usually plays very well at home.”

Regarding the situation where VAR denied a penalty to the Vietnamese team, coach Graham Arnold said: “In that situation, the ball touched my player’s hand. I was quite worried, but the referee’s decision was made and I completely agree.”

Coach Graham Arnold affirmed that he was not disappointed with any of his players, even though this was a match in which the Australian team did not play their best.

“I am proud of my players. My players did very well. Of course they could have done better, but the important thing is that we got 3 points at My Dinh,” coach Graham Arnold emphasized.

“Coming to a country in Southeast Asia, there are many differences. However, we still have many matches ahead and will try to play our best,” the Australian captain emphasized.

Coach Graham Arnold also added that the fact that My Dinh Stadium has no fans helps reduce a lot of pressure for the Australian players.

“The fact that My Dinh Stadium has no spectators is an advantage for us. Having fans will be a great encouragement for the home team,” said coach Graham Arnold.

Ultimately, the Australian strategist believes that the Vietnamese team can play better, and he does not compare his defeated team with the remaining teams in Group B.

“I can’t compare which team is better than the other. When teams reach the final round of the World Cup, all are difficult to play. The Vietnam team played very well today. I don’t want to compare them with other teams,” Graham Arnold concluded.

Meanwhile, player Grant confirmed that the ball only touched his back and not his hand in the situation that led to VAR in the match.
