Coach Hoang Anh Tuan wants the Vietnam U23 team to play football at a faster pace.
(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Hoang Anh Tuan held a meeting with the entire team, and the head coach of the Vietnam U23 team pointed out the issues that need to be addressed after the defeat in the friendly match against Jordan U23.
Following their defeat in the friendly match against Jordan U23, the coach from Khanh Hoa province instructed his players to be more proactive in their gameplay and transition from defense to attack. He wanted the players to play at a higher speed and more directly, and to be more confident in taking shots at goal when opportunities arose.
In other words, the U23 Vietnam team's playing style will lean towards defensive counter-attacking. This is also the familiar style of play of the national teams under the guidance of coach Hoang Anh Tuan. He focuses on defense, prioritizing midfielders with strong defensive capabilities, playing safely, before looking for opportunities from the opponent's mistakes. When a Southeast Asian team goes to the continental level, approaching the game from an underdog position is not a bad thing.

At noon on April 13th, local time, the Vietnam U23 team moved to the hotel designated by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the teams participating in the AFC U23 Asian Championship finals, marking the start of the official tournament activities.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team are staying at Le Meriden Hotel, part of the Marriott Bonvoy, which is one of the 5-star hotels in Doha used by the AFC to accommodate members of the Organizing Committee and the team participating in the AFC U23 Asian Championship Finals.

As it was the designated hotel for the tournament, the AFC carefully considered its location to ensure convenient access for the team to both training and match venues. Sharing the same hotel with the Vietnam U23 team is the Kuwait U23 team – Vietnam's group opponent in the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship Finals.
Similar to the training camp in Qatar, the VFF's advance team arrived at the hotel a day in advance to handle check-in procedures and arrange rooms for the players as requested by the coaching staff.

The meal menus, as requested by the team doctor, and the team's activity schedule at the hotel were also meticulously planned by the advance staff in coordination with the head chef and hotel management to ensure favorable conditions for coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team. Team leader Nguyen Quoc Hoi was also present in Doha to support the team throughout their journey at the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Championship.
