This morning (January 5th), the former head coach of the Vietnamese national team officially took office at Ho Chi Minh City FC, with his former pupil Le Cong Vinh serving as acting president.

Coach Miura returns to Vietnam to lead the team managed by his former pupil, Le Cong Vinh.

After more than a month of negotiations, coach Toshiya Miura has reached an agreement to lead Ho Chi Minh City FC for two seasons, starting from the 2018 season. The official presentation will be held this morning in Ho Chi Minh City.

The appointment of the Japanese coach to lead Ho Chi Minh City FC was considered a surprise because the name previously mentioned was former Vietnam national team coach Henrique Calisto. His son, Thiago, had even visited Thong Nhat Stadium to work with Ho Chi Minh City FC's leadership, but the negotiations were unsuccessful.

Coach Miura previously coached Vietnamese football for nearly two years, starting in 2014. He helped the Vietnamese national team win a bronze medal at the 2014 AFF Cup, the U23 team win a bronze medal at the 2015 SEA Games, and qualify for the 2016 AFC U23 Championship. However, he was subsequently dismissed before the end of his contract.

Besides introducing their head coach, Ho Chi Minh City FC also unveiled new signings today, including midfielder Tran Phi Son, defender Sam Ngoc Duc, goalkeeper Thanh Diep, and fitness expert Martin Fokel.

Previously, the club had parted ways with head coach Alain Antoine Fiard as well as 13 other players.
