Coach Park: 'All the teams that play against Vietnam play defensively'

That was a statement made by coach Park Hang-seo at the press conference before Vietnam's match against Cambodia in the final round of Group B of the AFF Cup 2020.

Coach Park Hang-seo opened the press conference by saying, "I can't say exactly how satisfied I am with the Vietnamese team's performance so far. Our opponents usually play with a large number of defenders, so Vietnam has more possession. Therefore, in the match against Laos, we only won 2-0. The same was true against Indonesia. On that day, we had 21 shots, but only one was dangerous."

"Teams that play against Vietnam now only play defensively. We maintain the initiative, and that's our new approach. We've held meetings and identified the reasons, and we'll implement solutions soon. We will have alternative solutions," Mr. Park affirmed.

When asked about the Cambodian team's playing style, Coach Park said: "Cambodia currently has one win and two losses. After the victory against Laos, their morale is high. In particular, they are always positive and highly consistent in their playing style. When they play, Cambodia always follows their own philosophy. The Cambodian players are very fast and pass the ball accurately."

"I don't know if they will continue playing like that tomorrow or switch to defense. Their strength is quick counter-attacks, and we have to prepare for that kind of situation. In the match against Indonesia, we had a lot of possession but couldn't score. That's our problem. Vietnam has to prepare for these things. But tomorrow we will try to play with all our might," said Coach Park.

When reporters asked Coach Park if he would change the lineup for the match against Cambodia, the South Korean strategist said: "It's not clear yet, but I might rest some injured players or those who are exhausted. But at this point, we don't know for sure."

"Looking at Singapore and Thailand, who would be easier to face in the semi-finals?" - a reporter asked. Coach Park Hang-seo said: "I think I can't say anything yet. We haven't even gotten past the group stage, so who we face isn't that important. We just have to do our best. We can't choose our opponents, so no matter who we face, we have to try our hardest."
