Coach Park Hang-seo does not want to face his hometown team.
(Baonghean.vn) - In an interview with the AFC during his quarantine with the Vietnamese national team, coach Park Hang-seo expressed his hope that the Vietnamese team would not face his home country's team.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) recently published an interview with coach Park Hang-seo, sharing his assessment of the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The South Korean strategist believes this is a great opportunity for the Vietnamese national team to test their capabilities against some of Asia's strongest teams.

According to the AFC's third round of group stage seedings, the Vietnamese national team is in the weakest seed group along with Lebanon. However, the South Korean strategist affirmed that he is not shying away from any team.

"I don't want to avoid any specific opponent, but if I had to choose one team, it would be South Korea.".
Coach Park Hang-seo said:"The South Korean team is not only strong, but they are also my home country. Facing my home country's team is a bit stressful for me. However, if I have to play against the South Korean team, I will give my all because I am the head coach of the Vietnamese national team."
The Vietnamese national team advanced through the second round of qualifiers with only one loss. Coach Park Hang-seo's team secured their place in the next round as one of the five best second-placed teams. However, the South Korean coach understands that the next challenge will be much more difficult.
In the past, coach Park Hang-seo faced the South Korean Olympic team in the semi-finals of the men's football event at the 2018 ASIAD. In that match, the Vietnamese Olympic team lost 1-3 to Son Heung-min and his teammates.
Coach Park Hang-seo also frankly assessed that the teams participating in the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers are all top-tier teams in Asia and possess superior strength compared to the Vietnamese national team.
