A support payment of 10 million VND will be given to families of those who died at sea.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 19th, authorized by the Vietnamese Heart Foundation (Vietnam Television), representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district, along with representatives from the Party Committee and government of Quynh Long commune, visited, offered condolences, and presented 10 million VND to the family of Mr. Lanh, who died while fishing at sea.

Previously, on March 17, 2017, the fishing vessel NA - 9688TS, captained by Tran Van Loi (born in 1989), residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, along with 15 other crew members, was fishing offshore, about 40 nautical miles from the coast, when the winch cable suddenly broke.

The incident resulted in the immediate death of Mr. Tran Van Lanh. Ms. Bui Thi Chuyen, residing in Cong Hoa village and the wife of Mr. Tran Van Lanh (born in 1982), received the money on behalf of the family.

Reportedly, Ms. Chuyen's family pooled nearly 500 million VND to build a 700-horsepower fishing vessel to venture out to sea for seafood harvesting. Mr. Lanh's death left behind debts for his wife and three young children, while Ms. Chuyen lacks a stable job, and the four of them are homeless and living with relatives.
