50% subsidy on the price of summer-autumn rice seeds in low-lying areas.

(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, farmers in Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An province) are focusing on planting summer-autumn rice to avoid flooding. The district has a policy to support 50% of the rice seed price for low-lying areas.

At this time, communes along the Lam River such as Hung Long, Hung Linh, Hung Xa, Hung Phu, Hung Chau… (Hung Nguyen district) are focusing on planting summer-autumn rice. Due to the low-lying nature of the fields, which are often flooded during the rainy season, before harvesting the winter-spring rice crop, people proactively prepare seedlings, compost manure, and immediately after harvesting the rice, they pump water and hire machinery to prepare the land so that the summer-autumn rice crop can be harvested before the rainy season.

According to the plan, Hung Nguyen district will cultivate 4,500 hectares of summer-autumn rice, striving to complete the planting before June 10th.

Recognizing that this crop season always faces difficulties such as droughts and floods affecting productivity and output, right from the beginning of the season, the district directed the Irrigation Enterprise and cooperatives to inspect and repair 92 pumping stations, proactively pump water early, and store water in the canal systems to create a water source so that as soon as the spring rice harvest is completed, water can be drawn and land prepared for summer-autumn planting can be sown immediately.

Along with proactively securing irrigation water, seed and fertilizer suppliers have also transported thousands of tons of fertilizer and hundreds of tons of various seeds directly to the commune to supply farmers for production.

Mr. Hoang Duc An, Head of the Agriculture Department of Hung Nguyen District, said: To ensure a successful summer-autumn crop, the district directed localities to simultaneously harvest the winter-spring rice crop and pump water promptly for people to prepare the land. The district has a mechanism to support 50% of the price of summer-autumn rice seeds for 800 hectares in low-lying and high-lying areas where water is difficult to obtain.
