Supporting "handsome farmer boys" to start their own businesses in Quynh Thang.
(Baonghean.vn) - Established just over a year ago, the Youth Club for Building Economic Models in Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu district) has empowered many young people to start businesses, generating incomes of 200-700 million VND per year.
At just 23 years old, Nguyen Dinh Hai, a Youth Union member from Hamlet 9, Quynh Thang Commune, owns an eel and frog farm, earning a profit of 200 million VND per year.
Starting in 2014, with support of 50 million VND from the Youth Club for building rural economic models in the commune and his family, Hai invested in building 8 cement tanks to buy eel fry for breeding. However, due to temperature changes during transportation and a lack of breeding experience, many of the fry were lost.
After numerous failures, Hai went to Tay Ninh province to learn from reputable eel farming models and techniques. Upon returning home, Hai decided he had to produce his own eel fry, primarily for his own farming operations.
VRaising the seedlings is quite difficult, requiring meticulous attention and a lot of time for care, but with determination, Hai has succeeded and produces 20,000 seedlings each year.In addition, Hai raised 50 more breeding pairs of froglets.

Thanks to mastering techniques in feeding, using disinfectants to prevent disease, and adjusting care appropriately, the production model has initially proven effective. Annually, by selling 2 tons of frogs at an average price of 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg and 1 ton of eels at a price of 140,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, Nguyen Dinh Hai has earned a relatively high income.
Also a member of the club, Mr. Phan Van Trung from Hamlet 13, Quynh Thang Commune, chose to get rich from raw material crops. With a total area of 10 hectares of hilly land, he planned 6 hectares for planting pineapples, sugarcane, and vetiver; 3 hectares for pine trees to extract resin; and the remaining 1 hectare for digging a pond to raise fish combined with livestock and poultry farming.
To increase crop yields, he collects manure from seven buffaloes and household waste to raise earthworms. These worms produce beneficial organisms that kill harmful bacteria in the manure and eliminate odors.
After three months of raising the worms, Mr. Trung harvests them to feed his chickens, ducks, and fish; the manure, rich in nitrogen, is used to fertilize crops, helping them absorb nutrients quickly, stimulating root development, and resisting pests and diseases. Thanks to his scientific farming methods, pineapple yields consistently reach 40 tons/ha, sugarcane 150 tons/ha, and fragrant herbs 8 tons/ha.
In addition, Mr. Trung also raises 20 beehives, supplying the market with 100-150 liters of honey annually. With his dynamism, diligence, and hard work in production, he earns an average of 500 million VND per year.

Currently, in line with the commune's policy on citrus fruit development, Mr. Trung has purchased 700 Xa Doai orange saplings, preparing to plant them on 1.5 hectares and will invest in high-tech methods.
Through his effective methods, he shared his experiences and techniques during club meetings for other young people to learn from and apply.
The Youth Club for Building Rural Economic Models in Quynh Thang Commune was established in October 2016 and currently has 18 members, with 18 farms engaged in livestock breeding and crop cultivation, totaling over 6 billion VND in value.
Initially, when the club was first established, some members were still developing ideas for building economic models. Therefore, the club's management board actively and proactively advised the commune's poverty reduction committee, the Social Policy Bank, and the district Youth Union to find sources of capital support for young people starting businesses.
With this proactive approach, two models have been supported by the Provincial Youth Union with 100 million VND; and 600 million VND from the Social Policy Bank has been disbursed to young people as loans. Members have used the capital effectively, generating profits of 200-700 million VND per year. This has created a vibrant youth economic development movement in the locality, contributing to the creation of dozens of local jobs for rural workers.
In addition, it is important to effectively utilize the potential advantages of the commune's topography and land, and accelerate the application of scientific and technological advancements in production to increase labor productivity.
Mr. Vo Nhat Phong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Quynh Thang commune, said: “Recognizing the great potential of Quynh Thang's land, while many young people go away to work and their income is not much, we have directed propaganda, built and created a movement for young people to compete in getting rich. To achieve this, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of the commune established a Youth Club for building rural economic models, which has served as the core for directing propaganda and leading the movement to develop the economy. Now in Quynh Thang, many young people earn hundreds of millions of dong.”
