(Baonghean.vn) - Established just over a year ago, the Youth Club for Building Economic Models in Quynh Thang Commune (Quynh Luu) has helped many young people start their own businesses, earning an income of 200 - 700 million VND/year.

Although only 23 years old, union member Nguyen Dinh Hai in hamlet 9, Quynh Thang commune is already the owner of an eel and frog farm, with a profit of 200 million VND per year.

Starting in 2014, with the support of 50 million VND from the Youth Club for building rural economic models in the commune and his family, Hai invested in building 8 cement tanks to buy eel seeds for breeding. During the process of transporting the seeds, due to changes in temperature and lack of experience in breeding, many of the seeds were lost.

After many failures, Hai went to Tay Ninh province to choose famous eel farming models to learn techniques and care methods. When he returned home, Hai decided to produce eel breeds himself, first of all to serve his own farming.

VBreeding is quite difficult, requiring meticulousness and a lot of time for care, but with determination, Hai has succeeded and produced 20,000 offspring each year.At the same time, Hai raised 50 more pairs of frog parents.

Thanks to his mastery of feeding techniques, disease prevention and antiseptic treatment, and his ability to adjust care appropriately, the production model has initially been effective. Every year, from selling 2 tons of frogs to the market at an average price of 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg; 1 ton of eels at a selling price of 140,000 - 180,000 VND/kg, Nguyen Dinh Hai has had a relatively high income.

Also a member of the club, Mr. Phan Van Trung in Hamlet 13, Quynh Thang Commune, has chosen to get rich from raw materials. With a total area of 10 hectares of hilly land, he has planned 6 hectares to grow pineapple, sugarcane, and vetiver; 3 hectares of pine to exploit resin, and the remaining 1 hectare to dig a pond to raise fish combined with raising livestock and poultry.

To increase crop yield, he collects manure from 7 buffaloes and waste from his family's area to raise earthworms. This type of worm produces beneficial organisms, destroys harmful bacteria in manure and eliminates odors.

After 3 months of raising, Mr. Trung harvested worms to feed chickens, ducks, and fish; the manure contains a lot of nitrogen to fertilize plants, helping plants quickly absorb nutrients and stimulate root development, while also being resistant to pests. Thanks to scientific farming and planting methods, pineapple yields always reach 40 tons/ha, sugarcane 150 tons/ha, and vetiver 8 tons/ha.

In addition, Mr. Trung also raises 20 beehives, supplying the market with 100 - 150 liters of honey each year. With his dynamism, diligence, and hard work in production, he earns an average of 500 million VND per year.

Currently, implementing the commune's policy on developing citrus trees, Mr. Trung has bought 700 Xa Doai orange trees, preparing to plant them on an area of 1.5 hectares and will invest in high technology.

From his effective way of doing things, in club meetings he has passed on his experiences and techniques for other young people to refer to and apply.

The Quynh Thang Commune Rural Economic Model Building Youth Club was established in October 2016. Up to now, it has 18 members, with 18 livestock and crop farms with a total value of over 6 billion VND.

At the beginning of the establishment, the Club still had some members who were in the process of nurturing the idea of building an economic model. Therefore, the Club's Executive Board actively and proactively advised the Commune Poverty Reduction Committee, the Social Policy Bank, and the District Youth Union to find sources of capital support for young people to start businesses.

With this proactive approach, there are 2 models that have been supported by the Provincial Youth Union with 100 million VND; 600 million VND from the Social Policy Bank has been disbursed for young people to borrow. Members have used the capital effectively and earned profits of 200 - 700 million VND/year. From here, an attractive youth economic development movement has been created in the locality. Thereby, it has contributed to solving on-site jobs for dozens of rural workers.

Besides, effectively exploit the potential advantages of terrain and land of the commune and accelerate the application of scientific and technological advances in production, increasing labor productivity.

Mr. Vo Nhat Phong - Secretary of Quynh Thang Commune Youth Union said: "Realizing that Quynh Thang's land potential is very large, while many young people go to work far away, their income is not worth much, we have oriented propaganda, built and created a youth movement to compete to get rich. To do that, the Commune Youth Union Executive Committee has established a youth club to build a rural economic model, thereby acting as a nucleus to orient propaganda and lead the organization of the economic development movement. Now in Quynh Thang, many young people earn hundreds of millions of dong."
