The Miss Universe competition is already causing a stir even before it begins.
These past few days, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 has been frequently mentioned, not only because of the official information released by the organizers, including the contestants' hot bikini photos, but also because of rumors and mutual accusations.

The person dragged into the controversy is Miss Pham Huong. It was just a few baseless accusations from an equally baseless social media account, criticizing Pham Huong for being arrogant in her role as host, saying she "filmed for a few minutes then sat down to rest for an hour," causing the contestants to tire, and then deliberately "undermining" Mai Ngo, demanding that the model from The Face be disqualified from the competition. No one could verify the truth. The "national beauty queen" remained silent. The organizers' representative simply stated, "It's all just rumors. The competition is still running smoothly."
Around the same time, Hoàng Thùy, one of the most popular contestants in the competition, was also accused of being deceitful and betraying her. This time, it wasn't just a random nickname, but a makeup artist who had previously worked with the The Face coach, who even filmed a video and leaked a series of messages. However, many viewers and Hoàng Thùy's fans believe the evidence is unconvincing, suggesting that the makeup artist was merely using her fame to boost her own reputation.
Regardless of the truth, it's not surprising that these accusations are being released in quick succession, coinciding with the broadcast of the reality TV show "I Am Miss Universe Vietnam," which is set to air this weekend on VTV9 and several local stations, and is being heavily promoted as the first of its kind.
It's no surprise that the production company behind the 10 episodes of "I Am Miss Universe Vietnam" is also the organizer of "Vietnam's Next Top Model 2017 - All Star" - a popular fashion game show that left an "unforgettable impression" with its loud arguments, fights, and throwing of objects like a marketplace among the models in the season for celebrities.
Many people familiar with showbiz shake their heads, thinking that the uproar and accusations before the competition even begin will surely be even more intense during the contest, with familiar revelations about plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures – common occurrences in beauty pageants. The only concern is whether, given the promotional claims of a more innovative and exciting program this year, the Miss Universe contestants will resemble Next Top Model, engaging in arguments, throwing objects, or even physical fights.
