Miss World 2021's final competition was abruptly postponed.
Early on December 17th, the official Miss World fanpage announced the postponement of the final competition. According to the original schedule, the Miss World final was to take place on the evening of December 16th (Puerto Rico time), which is 6 AM on December 17th (Vietnam time).
The reason given by the Miss World organizers is for the health and safety of all contestants, technical staff, organizers, and the public. The Miss World final has been postponed and is scheduled to be held in 90 days.

"The organizers have decided that the final competition will be postponed for the next 90 days. This decision was made after discussions with the medical professionals hired to oversee the final event and the Puerto Rico Department of Health," the official competition fan page announced.
According to the press release, the organizers had implemented best safety measures to avoid the risk of COVID-19 transmission, ensuring the health and safety of the contestants, organizing staff, and audience. However, after information emerged on the morning of December 16th that 17 people had tested positive for COVID-19, the organizers decided to postpone the competition night after consulting with experts and medical personnel.

On her personal page, Do Thi Ha, Vietnam's representative at the Miss World competition, also shared the news about the postponement of the final. She also revealed that Mrs. Morley and the reigning Miss World, Toni Ann, had both contracted Covid-19. "This is not a safe time to hold the final night, so it has to be postponed. Contestants and viewers are a little disappointed about this journey, but we should all understand that health must be the top priority," wrote Miss Do Thi Ha.
According to the organizers, tests will be conducted, and only when candidates test negative for Covid-19 and are deemed healthy will they be allowed to return to their home countries.

Earlier, Puerto Rico's health authorities confirmed that 17 people connected to the ongoing Miss World 2021 competition had tested positive for Covid-19.
