These days, orchid shops at the 2017 Lunar New Year flower market on Truong Thi Street (Vinh City) are bustling with customers. On average, each orchid shop here imports a large number of orchids to sell for Tet. 100% of the orchids are imported from many places such as Hanoi, Da Lat, Sapa, Taiwan (China).

Ms. Thai Thi Quynh Hoa, owner of an orchid shop, said: in the past few years, along with peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, kumquat trees, etc., the hobby of growing orchids during Tet has been favored by many people in Vinh city and surrounding areas. This is the third year she has been selling orchids during Tet. Experience from previous years shows that although the investment capital is large, people's purchasing power is high, so Ms. Hoa is not worried about unsold goods.

This year, her shop has a large number of Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium orchids with many brilliant colors: pink, peach pink, white petals, purple, dark red, purple, yellow, ivory... Each plant has only one branch. Phalaenopsis orchids cost 200,000 VND/plant; Cymbidium orchids cost from 600,000 to 800,000 VND/plant. Depending on the customer's choice and request, the price of an orchid pot is calculated based on the number of branches. To have a brilliant orchid pot with large flower branches for Tet, the price is up to 8-10 million VND, and the average price is from 2-4 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, from Hung Phuc, came to the Spring Flower Market to buy orchids to celebrate Tet and shared: “This Tet, my family decided to buy orchids because the flowers are beautiful, the colors are vibrant, and they do not depend much on the weather. Moreover, the flowers last a long time, and the orchid pots can last for 2-3 months. I find this year's orchids very beautiful, with big blooming flowers, fresh green branches, and reasonable prices.”
