(Baonghean.vn) - After their parents passed away one after another due to serious illnesses, the three brothers Vo Tuan Khang in Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district suddenly became orphans. More tragically, Khang suffered from congenital hydrocephalus and had to live in a vegetative state; all three young children had to depend on their grandparents...

Visiting the family of Vo Tuan Khang from Thuy Son hamlet, Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district to ask about his family situation, everyone in the village felt sorry for him.

Mr. Vo Van Hien - Khang's grandfather said that Khang's parents are Vo Van Hao and Ho Thi My Nhung. He is from Nghe An and she is from Quang Tri. They met and fell in love when they both worked as hired laborers in Ho Chi Minh City. After getting married, the couple moved to Long An to start a business.

In 2013, the couple gave birth to their first daughter, Vo Ho Ha Vy, and two years later, their son, Vo Tuan Khang, was born. Their happiness was short-lived when shortly after, the family discovered that Khang was not like other children, his head was abnormally swollen. Mr. Hao and his wife took their child to the doctor and the doctor diagnosed him with hydrocephalus.

Since Khang got sick, his mother had to quit her job at the company to stay home and take care of him. As for Mr. Hao, in addition to working at the company, he also works extra to earn money to cover living expenses and medicine for his son. The terrible disease has left Khang bedridden, and all his personal activities are taken care of by relatives.

Life continued to be difficult until 2017, when Mr. Hao and his wife gave birth to another child, Vo Ho Phuong Trinh. Seeing their child born healthy, the couple felt somewhat compensated. With many children, a difficult life, and Khang having a congenital disease, Mr. Hao and his wife shared their joys and sorrows, trying hard to work for the future of their children.

However, that simple happiness did not last long when incidents continuously happened to the couple's family. In the last days of 2022, Ms. Nhung felt unwell, often had chest pain, shortness of breath, and dizziness, so she went to the hospital for a check-up. Holding the results in her hand, she felt like collapsing when she learned that she had late-stage breast cancer. Despite the difficult life, Mr. Hao had to put aside his worries to share with his wife; taking her to central hospitals for treatment. However, their efforts were fruitless, her condition became more and more serious and had metastasized to the brain. Only a short time later, she passed away...

“When Nhung knew she didn’t have much longer to live, she told me that when she died, she would be allowed to be buried in her hometown in Quang Tri province. When she asked me that, I felt so sorry for her and agreed to let the children’s mother have her wish. From the day she was diagnosed with the disease until she passed away, it was only a month; leaving behind young children, I felt so sorry!” - Mr. Hien was moved.

Disaster has not yet “let go” of Khang’s family when just over a month after his mother passed away, his father became seriously ill and later died of cirrhosis of the liver. It is heartbreaking that in less than two months, the three children had to witness their most beloved relatives passing away one after another. The three Khang brothers became orphans, relying on their grandparents, who are now old and weak.

After his parents passed away, Khang was transferred from Long An province to live with his grandparents. Khang's eldest and youngest sisters are currently living with their grandparents in Quang Tri. "This coming summer vacation, we will take Vy and Trinh to live with our grandparents. Because we love them for not having a father or mother, our grandparents, despite their advanced age, still open their arms to take care of them. No matter how difficult it is, they will try their best to raise and educate their grandchildren. The only worry is that when we get old and pass away and can no longer take care of them, we don't know what their future will be like," Mr. Hien shared sadly.

Sharing the family's difficult situation, the local government promptly encouraged, visited and called for support to help Khang and his siblings gradually overcome the pain and loss, to stabilize their lives.

Mr. Ha Hong Thai - Chairman of Thanh Thuy Commune People's Committee (Thanh Chuong) said: "The locality sympathizes with the situation of Vo Tuan Khang's family. In addition to mobilizing help, the commune always pays special attention to the family. When there are support policies, we always prioritize gifts on holidays and Tet to encourage the children. We also hope to receive more attention and help from benefactors so that the family can take care of the 3 Khang sisters so that they can have the conditions to buy medicine and continue to go to school."
