The Nậm Mộ river embankment project in Kỳ Sơn district has been completed.
The Nậm Mộ river embankment project in Kỳ Sơn district has been officially completed, contributing to ensuring the safety of property and lives for hundreds of households along the Nậm Mộ river in Mường Xén town, Kỳ Sơn district, as well as protecting several infrastructure facilities in the area.
To date, the construction of the Nam Mo River embankment has been completed and handed over for operation and use. The project was implemented with the goal of preventing landslides, ensuring the safety of riverside residential areas, and improving the urban landscape, creating a foundation for socio-economic development in the locality.
Observations at the construction site show that both banks of the Nam Mo River section passing through Muong Xen town have been reinforced with sloping embankments made of reinforced concrete. The top of the embankment and the base of the wall are protected by a sturdy gabion system, increasing its resistance to the impact of strong currents and limiting erosion.
According to Decision No. 567/QD-UBND dated March 15, 2024, issued by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the Nam Mo River embankment project, specifically the section passing through Blocks 4 and 5 of Muong Xen town, has been adjusted and approved with a total length of 2,420m. This includes a 1,118m embankment along the right bank and a 1,302m embankment along the left bank. The total investment for the project amounts to over 87 billion VND.
According to the original plan, the project was expected to be completed on December 31, 2024. However, during implementation, due to adverse weather conditions such as prolonged heavy rain and rising river levels, construction progress was interrupted, causing the completion time to be extended to 2025. Despite this, thanks to the efforts of the construction units, local authorities, and relevant parties, the project was completed on time and handed over for use.
A representative from the Ky Son District People's Committee stated: The Nam Mo River embankment project is one of the key infrastructure projects in Ky Son district, holding particular importance in protecting the safety of hundreds of households living in Blocks 4 and 5 of Muong Xen town. In addition, the project contributes to ensuring the stability and sustainable development of socio-economic projects in the area, and mitigating damage caused by natural disasters during the rainy season.
