At this competition, Hoang Mai Town emerged as a strong contender in the 200m, 800m, 1,500m, and 3,000m races. To achieve this, the town meticulously prepared and rigorously trained its athletes. Simultaneously, they sought out local athletes who had previously trained professionally but had since retired to strengthen their team. With this approach, Hoang Mai competed confidently and took the lead in the overall medal standings for athletics.

Specifically, the athletes who were once professional competitors and are now part of the Hoang Mai athletics team have just won Gold Medals: Nguyen Van Long - Gold Medal in the men's 200m event and Nguyen Van Duc - Gold Medal in the men's 1,500m event.

Thus, after 3 days of competition in athletics, Hoang Mai town won 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.

Right behind them is Quynh Luu, who also excellently won 4 Gold and 1 Bronze medal.

The mountainous districts of Tan Ky, Que Phong, Nghia Dan, Quy Chau, and Con Cuong each won one Gold Medal.

Athletics, part of the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2022, featured 18 events: long jump (men and women); 100m run (men and women); shot put (men and women); 1,500m run (men and women); 200m run (men and women); high jump (men and women); 400m run (men and women); 800m run (men and women); 3,000m run (women); and 5,000m run (men).

After three days of exciting, dramatic, and highly competitive competition, the athletics team participating in this year's Games has brought great appeal to a large audience, truly deserving the title of "queen of sports."

Commenting on the professional quality of athletics at this year's Games, Mr. Nguyen Van Bang - former Head of the Athletics Department, Nghe An Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, and Head of the Athletics Referee Team at the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Games in 2022 - said: “I have participated in managing and refereeing all nine editions of the Games. I noticed that in this year's Games, the participating units were very well prepared. The team leaders, coaches, and athletes participated with a more serious and professional attitude than before. Therefore, the athletes' achievements in this Games have improved significantly. In particular, there were no significant errors, and all events were conducted according to regulations. In addition, the referee team did a very good job of checking personnel and controlling the matches accurately and impartially. Therefore, the competition ended without any complaints from the teams.”

At this point, it can be confirmed that the athletics competition at the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2022 has been a success, meeting the expectations of the sports sector and the people of the province.”

In chess, athletes compete in four categories: individual men's and women's events; and team men's and women's events.

After three days of competition, Vinh City and Quynh Luu City each won two gold medals. Specifically, Vinh City won gold medals in the men's individual and men's team events; Quynh Luu won gold medals in the women's individual and women's team events.
