At this congress, Hoang Mai Town emerged as a locality with outstanding strengths in the 200m, 800m, 1,500m, and 3,000m races. To achieve this, before the tournament, the locality had carefully prepared and trained its athletes seriously. At the same time, they also sought out local athletes who had trained professionally but had now retired to add to the team. With that approach, Hoang Mai competed confidently and took the lead in the overall medal tally for athletics.

Specifically, the athletes who used to compete professionally and are now members of Hoang Mai Athletics who have just won Gold Medals are: Nguyen Van Long - Gold Medal in the men's 200m event and Nguyen Van Duc - Gold Medal in the men's 1,500m event.

Thus, after 3 days of competition in athletics, Hoang Mai town won 5 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze.

Right behind is Quynh Luu, who also excellently won 4 Golds and 1 Bronze.

The mountainous districts of Tan Ky, Que Phong, Nghia Dan, Quy Chau, and Con Cuong all won 1 Gold Medal.

Athletics is part of the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2022, organized with 18 events including: Men's and women's long jump; men's and women's 100m run; men's and women's shot put; men's and women's 1,500m run; men's and women's 200m run; men's and women's high jump; men's and women's 400m run; men's and women's 800m run; women's 3,000m run; men's 5,000m run.

After 3 days of exciting, dramatic and highly competitive competition, the athletics category participating in this Congress brought excitement to a large audience, worthy of the name of the queen of sports.

Commenting on the professional quality of athletics at this congress, Mr. Nguyen Van Bang - former Head of the Athletics Department, Nghe An Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center, Head of the Athletics Referee Team at the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Congress in 2022 said: “I have participated in the management and refereeing of all 9 congresses held. I noticed that at this congress, the units have been very well prepared. The heads of delegations, coaches and athletes participated with a more serious and professional attitude than before. Therefore, the achievements of the athletes at this congress have been significantly improved. In particular, there were no significant errors, all events were carried out in accordance with regulations. In addition, the referee team did a very good job of checking personnel, controlling the match accurately and impartially. Therefore, the competition ended without any complaints from the teams.

Up to this point, it can be affirmed that the athletics event at the 9th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2022 has taken place successfully, meeting the expectations of the Sports industry and the people of the province.

For chess, athletes compete in 4 individual events for men and women; and men and women's teams.

After 3 days of competition, Vinh city and Quynh Luu each shared 2 Gold Medals. Specifically, Vinh city won Gold Medals in the men's individual and men's team events; Quynh Luu won Gold Medals in the women's individual and women's team events.
