Singer Hoang Thuy Linh was overcome with emotion as she held her first music award in 10 years at the Vpop 20 Awards.

The Vpop 20 Awards is an annual music award presented by YAN TV. This year, the results of the 6th Vpop 20 Awards were selected based on the overall results throughout 2016 from the weekly Vpop 20 charts, as well as references from other reputable charts.

On the evening of January 6th, the Vpop 20 Awards 2016 ceremony took place at the Lan Anh music stage in Ho Chi Minh City. After nearly three hours of award announcements and artistic performances, the most outstanding artists of 2016 were honored in various categories.

For the first time in 10 years, singer Hoang Thuy Linh has received a music award. Her music video "Banh Troi Nuoc" was named Music Video of the Year.

Hoang Thuy Linh was overcome with emotion when receiving the award.

Overwhelmed with emotion by the award, Hoang Thuy Linh shared, trying to hold back tears: "Ten years ago, I only thought about how to return to the stage and never hoped to hold an award in my hands. I don't even know how I've come this far, from my first stage appearance to my first film and now my first award. I would like to thank my parents, friends, the crew, and all the fans who have always been by my side. 2016 is over, and 2017 will be a time for me to break through even more and contribute even more."

The biggest award of the program – Artist of the Year – went to singer Dong Nhi. In 2016, Dong Nhi made a mark with many achievements: holding her first solo live show with over 15,000 attendees, helping her student Nhat Minh win The Voice Kids Vietnam with Ong Cao Thang, and serving as a judge on The Voice Vietnam… Dong Nhi also continuously delivered high-quality and meticulously produced musical products to her audience.

Due to a busy performance schedule preventing her from attending the awards ceremony, her close friend, musician Do Hieu, accepted the award on Dong Nhi's behalf. The female singer also sent a video clip to thank everyone for their support over the past time.

At other awards ceremonies, Noo Phuoc Thinh and Bao Thy won the Male and Female Singer of the Year awards. While Noo Phuoc Thinh has been a frequently mentioned name at music awards in recent years, Bao Thy was a surprise. She only recently returned with the song "Lollipop" after a two-year hiatus.
