Nearly one-year-old child dies after choking on coconut pulp.

On June 27th, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thuan Son commune (Do Luong district), stated that an 11-month-13-day-old baby died in the commune after choking on coconut pulp.

Accordingly, on the evening of June 26th, Dang Thao Vy, born on July 13th, 2021, residing in Thuan Minh hamlet, Thuan Son commune, was carried by her cousin to a neighbor's house to play. There, several children were eating coconut flesh, and Dang Thao Vy asked for some. Her cousin then broke off a small piece of coconut flesh for her to eat.

Unfortunately, Vy choked. Her older sister discovered she was choking and immediately took her home to her mother. Vy's mother then took her to a local clinic, where staff advised that the case required immediate hospitalization.

The child was taken to the commune's health station, where the medical staff noticed the child was turning blue and gave him oxygen before transferring him to the district general hospital. However, the child died due to a coconut husk obstructing the larynx, causing suffocation.
