The first day of school for students in Ca Mau takes place about 10 days before the official opening ceremony. This allows schools ample time to prepare for the new school year and helps students feel relaxed and less stressed.

School start and opening ceremony dates

The People's Committee of Ca Mau province has issued a plan for the 2025-2026 school year for all levels of education, from school start dates and opening ceremonies to enrollment for the new school year.

According to a decision recently signed by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the 2025-2026 school year will commence on September 5, 2025.

Students in grades 1, 9, and 12 will return to school from August 25, 2025, until before the official opening day.

Preschool, other primary and secondary school grades, and continuing education programs will resume classes from August 28, 2025.

School and Tet holiday schedule

Semester I: from September 8, 2025 to January 10, 2026, comprising 18 weeks of actual study.

Semester II: from January 12, 2026 to May 23, 2026, comprising 17 weeks of actual study.

Contingency week: from May 25th to May 30th, 2026, to complete the program and summarize the results.

In the event of natural disasters or epidemics, the school year may be extended, ending no later than June 13, 2026.

Students will have holidays for New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, and other holidays as per current regulations. The Department of Education and Training will adjust the holiday schedule to align with the holiday schedules of officials, civil servants, and employees, making it convenient for their families.

Teachers and administrators will primarily take leave during the summer, or their leave can be arranged flexibly throughout the year according to each unit's plan.

The high school graduation exam and the national excellent student competition are organized according to the schedule set by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Public holidays are observed according to the Labor Code and annual guiding documents. Teachers' annual leave is taken during the summer break or may be arranged intermittently at other times of the year to suit the specific situation and the school year schedule of Ca Mau province.

During the implementation process, the Department of Education and Training will advise the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on decisions regarding school closures and extensions of the school year in special circumstances; decisions on school closures in cases of extreme weather conditions or natural disasters, and arrangements for make-up classes; and announcements of exam schedules and guidance for provincial-level exams and competitions.
