(Baonghean.vn) - The Department of Education and Training has just announced the holiday schedule for the Lunar New Year (Tet) in 2017. This year, schools are allowed to independently schedule Tet holidays for their students.

According to the directive from the Department of Education and Training, officials, teachers, and staff of educational management agencies, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, Continuing Education Centers, and vocational training centers will have a 7-day Tet holiday for the Year of the Rooster, from January 26, 2017 to February 1, 2017 (i.e., from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Monkey to the 6th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Rooster).

On January 21st, schools will implement post-Tet tree planting plans, organize school cleaning, and arrange facilities before the Tet holiday break.

For students specifically, the Department of Education and Training does not specify particular holidays. School principals independently determine the Tet holiday schedule for students based on the actual conditions of their schools. However, the students' Tet holiday schedule is always arranged at least 8 days before the teachers' Tet holiday.

During the Tet holiday, the Department of Education and Training also requested schools to strengthen propaganda and education efforts to ensure students maintain good security and order, avoid participating in games with potential accident risks, and refrain from the illegal use of fireworks.
