On August 14th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 3747/QD-UBND on the academic year schedule for 2026-2027 for preschool education, general education, and continuing education in the province.

According to the plan, the first day of school for all students in Nghe An province in the 2026-2027 school year will be August 24, 2026. The opening ceremony for the new school year will be held on September 5, 2026.

According to the plan approved by the Provincial People's Committee,academic year 2026 - 2027Students must ensure 35 weeks of actual schooling, including 18 weeks in the first semester and 17 weeks in the second semester.

The first semester must end before January 17, 2027; educational institutions must complete the curriculum and end the school year before May 31, 2027.

Regarding the end-of-year school deadlines, the assessment for completion of the primary school program and the assessment for graduation from lower secondary school must be completed before June 30, 2027. Enrollment for the first-year classes must be completed before July 31, 2027.

The 2027 high school graduation exam and other national-level exams will be organized according to the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training. Provincial-level exams, competitions, and sports events will be conducted according to the approval documents of the Provincial People's Committee and the guidelines of the Department of Education and Training.

The plan also clearly defines the responsibilities of agencies and units in organizing the school year.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decides on the duration of school holidays and the extension of the school year in special circumstances.

The Director of the Department of Education and Training is responsible for advising the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on decisions regarding school holidays and extending the school year in special circumstances. The extension of the school year shall not exceed 14 days compared to the regulations.

The Department of Education and Training also has the authority to decide on school closures in cases of extreme weather conditions or natural disasters, and to arrange for make-up classes; while also ensuring teachers' time off during the school year.

The Department is also responsible for announcing exam schedules, providing guidance on provincial-level exams, competitions, and sports events; reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training as required; summarizing the implementation of key tasks and solutions for the academic year and the results of achieving emulation criteria, and proposing awards for the academic year before June 25, 2027.
