Students in Nghe An enthusiastically participate in a quiz about clean water and sanitation.
On the afternoon of April 17th, in Bich Hao commune, the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society organized a competition to raise awareness about clean water and school hygiene for schools in the area, contributing to raising awareness and changing behavior in the community.
The competition is part of the "Clean Drinking Water for the Community" project, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G) globally and implemented by the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross in beneficiary localities.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tinh - Head of the Social Work and Healthcare Department of the Provincial Red Cross Society - emphasized: Ensuring clean water and sanitation is a crucial factor in healthcare, especially for students. Through creative communication activities, the project contributes to raising awareness, changing behavior, and building a safe and healthy school environment.

According to the organizers, the competition not only tests knowledge but also aims to develop hygiene skills and habits for students. Through this, the children become "young advocates," spreading the message about clean water and hygiene to their families and communities.

The competition brought together 4 teams with 20 contestants from primary and secondary schools in Bich Hao, Kim Bang, and Xuan Lam communes. This was not only a beneficial playground, but also a vivid and engaging communication activity about using clean water, practicing personal hygiene, and preventing and controlling waterborne diseases.

The teams participated in three rounds of competition: greetings, a knowledge quiz, and teamwork. In the greetings round, the teams showcased their creativity through skits, poems, and dramatizations, incorporating messages about safe water use, handwashing with soap, and environmental protection.
The multiple-choice section, with 20 questions, helps contestants reinforce their knowledge about water sources, infectious diseases, and prevention methods. Meanwhile, the team-building section is highly practical, involving tasks such as assembling picture messages and arranging the correct handwashing procedure.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Vo Liet Secondary School, the second prize to Thanh Luong Secondary School, and the third prize to two schools: Thanh Lam Primary and Secondary School, and Thanh Giang Primary and Secondary School. They also presented many meaningful gifts to the audience who participated in cheering, creating a lively atmosphere.

In the coming period, the Provincial Red Cross Society will continue to implement programs and projects to support clean water and sanitation in disadvantaged areas; strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to use safe and hygienic clean water; and mobilize social resources to invest in the construction and upgrading of domestic water supply facilities, contributing to improving the quality of life and protecting public health.
