Vietnamese students have the longest summer vacation in the world.
During the summer holidays, children around the world participate in many fun activities, camping trips, or educational courses... Let's find out what summer holidays are like for children in some countries:
How long is summer vacation for students around the world?
In Australia, students get up to four holidays each year: two weeks in the middle of the first semester, two weeks in the middle of the second semester; 6 to 7 weeks of summer break and 2 weeks of mid-year break.
Students in England also have four holidays: eight days for Easter, 15 days for the winter break, 15 days for the spring break, and around 40 days for the summer break.
In Japan, each school year has three breaks. The winter break is from approximately December 26th to January 6th (10 days), the spring break is from March 25th to May 4th (10 days), and the summer break is from July 20th to August 31st (approximately 40 days).
Vietnam has the longest summer vacation for students (approximately 3 months).

In New Zealand, there are training programs and organized activities for students to play golf or participate in small groups, learning a new sport while practicing.
In the US, there's a program called "Students' Vacation in the World of Books." Here, students from affluent families in southwestern Berkeley can enjoy a summer vacation filled with interesting books and receive support from students at UC Berkeley. Additionally, the "Light and Life" program at the Georgia Institute of Technology equips students with research skills and familiarizes them with the university environment through botanical and animal surveys and some experimental research.
This is the ideal environment for children to play and learn at the same time. It's not about studying academics to reinforce what they've already learned or learning ahead of the next school year's curriculum.

In addition to participating in school programs, students also engage in outdoor recreational activities. During summer vacation, Philadelphia students can visit the Christmas Light Show at Macy's Downtown with their parents, featuring nearly 10,000 traveling LED lights; explore the Christmas Village in Love Park; or visit Reading Terminal Market – a super impressive 500m² space with 15 different railway lines, cable cars, bridges, model trains, and thousands of sparkling lights.
In addition, students aged 16-17 in England can register for free classes (worth £50 plus lunch) such as rowing, climbing, swimming, hiking, and community projects. Parents can easily register through citizen services websites. Furthermore, children can participate in group workshops to develop life skills such as first aid and financial management, and tennis lessons are completely free. Children aged 5-11 can participate in extended football training sessions throughout the holidays. There are also many affordable travel options to meet children's recreational needs during the summer break.
