At noon on January 30 (the third day of the Lunar New Year), Mr. Le Tan Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long An province, confirmed that by noon on January 30, the security force of the Long An Provincial Social Labor Education Treatment Center, the Mobile Police, and the Thanh Hoa District Police (Long An) had brought 72 drug addicts back to the center. Before that, 110 students at the center had vandalized property, broken the center's gate, and escaped.

“The students are hiding deep in the cajuput forests in the communes of Tan Tay, Tan Dong, and Thanh An. Currently, the authorities are facing many difficulties because the center is surrounded by cajuput forests and river areas,” said Mr. Dung.

According to a quick report from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province, at around 5:00 p.m. on January 29 (the second day of the Lunar New Year), drug addicts at the Social Labor Education Treatment Center (under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province) located in Tan Tay commune (Thanh Hoa district, Long An) had just finished eating when they suddenly stopped in front of the room door and refused to enter, then shouted in unison demanding to "go home for Tet", then started to cause a ruckus.

The students then continued to spread out to all areas in the center, destroying everything they saw, then broke down the center's door, divided into groups and ran straight into the cajuput forest.

Authorities had to block off some roads, set up checkpoints at roads leading to residential areas, and then continuously called on students to voluntarily return to the center.

According to initial information, there are still more than 30 students who have gone deep into the hundreds of hectares of cajuput forest, so it is difficult to mobilize these students to return to the camp.

Long An Social Labor Education Treatment Center has an area of 8 hectares, surrounded by a cajuput forest of over 500 hectares, located about 1 km from Highway 62, currently has 160 students undergoing compulsory treatment./.
