Red Cross conducts flood and storm prevention drills

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 13, the Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with the People's Committee of Thanh Mai Commune (Thanh Chuong) to organize a drill to respond to storms and floods.

At the drill, the leadership team and the commune rescue team practiced organizing the evacuation of people in emergency situations when there were storms, floods, etc., bracing houses, rescuing drowning victims and providing first aid.

In addition, to help people in flood-prone areas have more ability to respond and mitigate damage caused by natural disasters to people and improve the capacity of local authorities in managing natural disaster risks in the locality, Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society provided 20 water tanks (each tank has a capacity of 1,500 liters), 14 rescue boats, 6 portable loudspeakers, 30 life buoys and FM early warning loudspeaker equipment to Thanh Mai commune.

The total value of the above vehicles is 250 million VND, from the funding source of the "Disaster Risk Reduction" Project sponsored by the Norwegian Red Cross.
