(Baonghean.vn) - On December 3rd and 4th, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women organized a training course to enhance the knowledge and skills of potential female candidates for district-level People's Council representatives..
The training course was attended by over 200 delegates, all potential female candidates running for election to the District/Commune People's Councils for the 2016-2020 term. The delegates were introduced to key topics, including an overview of the National Assembly, People's Councils, and the Law on Election of National Assembly and People's Council Deputies; laws on gender equality and women's participation in elected bodies; skills in gathering and processing information, developing action programs; skills in engaging with voters during election campaigns, and working with media agencies.

The training aims to provide potential female candidates with knowledge, skills, and experience in information gathering and processing; developing work plans; engaging with constituents; and preparing for effective election campaigns. Simultaneously, plans are being developed to gradually increase the proportion of women in People's Councils at all levels in localities, in order to achieve the national strategic goal of gender equality.

Currently, according to the plan, the National Assembly has chosen May 22, 2016, as the election date for the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term. In Nghe An province, during the 2011-2016 term, the percentage of women participating as representatives in the People's Councils at the commune level was 23.1%, at the district level was 28%, and at the provincial level was 30%. In addition, 23.07% of women participated in the 13th National Assembly. This rate is at an average level compared to the whole country.
