December 2023 Press Briefing
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 8th, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Provincial Journalists Association jointly organized the December 2023 Press Briefing Conference. Attending the conference was Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.
The conference was chaired by comrades: Pham Ngoc Canh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Ba Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications; and Ho Thi Ngan - Standing Vice President of the Provincial Journalists Association.
At the conference, reviewing press work in November, Mr. Nguyen Ba Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications - stated: In November 2023, press agencies basically adhered to the principles, objectives, and propaganda orientations of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.
In the field of current affairs and politics, the press agencies extensively reported on the working activities of provincial leaders in the United States and Japan, and provided comprehensive updates on the 6th Session of the 15th National Assembly with many important contents. In the economic field, the press agencies highlighted some positive results in the past 10 months in the province; and proposed several solutions to achieve and surpass the targets set for 2023. In addition, many news articles also addressed the consequences of delays in the implementation of hydropower projects; the increase in tax arrears among businesses; the serious deterioration of some transportation routes; the dumping of dead pigs infected with African swine fever into canals and ditches causing environmental pollution; and the risks of safety hazards and pollution from mineral exploitation and processing, etc.
In its December information orientation, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department requested that media agencies continue to promote the results of the 8th Conference of the 13th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and intensify the dissemination of information on the implementation of the action program to carry out Resolution No. 39-NQ/TW, dated July 18, 2023, of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
In addition, continue to promote movements, models, and exemplary cases of "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh," in conjunction with the 2023 theme; strengthen the dissemination of "bright spots" in socio-economic development to spread and promote achievements in socio-economic development in the past months; and actively participate in the 2023 journalism awards.
During the conference, several delegates suggested that the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Provincial Journalists' Association should communicate with reporters to verify local reports regarding some published news articles. Additionally, some suggested that the province should establish a mechanism for commissioning news articles for central media outlets, thereby spreading the province's image and key activities to a wider audience. Furthermore, for important provincial events, there should be a source of information and images available for media outlets to utilize.
Concluding the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, stated that she would take into account the opinions exchanged in the meeting. Over the past year, media agencies have made significant contributions to information and propaganda work in the province. Besides their professional activities, media agencies have gradually formed several clubs and volunteer groups actively seeking support from organizations and businesses to help people overcome natural disasters and floods. According to the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, these are commendable actions that should be maintained and promoted.
In the coming period, press management will be further tightened.
