Scientific conference updates on advances in epilepsy diagnosis and treatment in Vietnam.

In response to the month of action for epilepsy patients, on the morning of April 11th, the Vietnam Anti-Epilepsy Association organized a scientific conference to update on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy in Vietnam.

Attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Viet Nga - President of the Vietnam Anti-Epilepsy Association, along with international experts and Vietnamese neurology and epilepsy specialists. Representing Nghe An province was Mr. Duong Dinh Chinh – Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

At the conference, more than 200 healthcare professionals from the Neurology and Nutrition Departments of various medical facilities nationwide received updated knowledge and practical experience from leading experts in epilepsy treatment in Vietnam regarding early detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment of epilepsy.

Many of the presented papers focused on updating modern diagnostic methods such as digital electroencephalography (EEG), advanced imaging techniques, and new treatment protocols tailored to individual patient groups, especially those with drug-resistant epilepsy.

In addition, international and domestic experts also introduced many in-depth approaches such as the application of neuromodulation, the ketogenic diet in the treatment of epilepsy, as well as the role of vagal nerve stimulation in seizure control.

Clinical reports on epilepsy associated with other neurological conditions were also presented, including practical experiences from Nghe An Friendship General Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital, contributing to clarifying the diagnostic characteristics and management approaches for complex cases.

The conference serves as an important forum for experts to exchange academic knowledge, share experiences, and update on new advances in the field of neurology. This contributes to improving the capacity for diagnosing and treating epilepsy in Vietnam in general and Nghe An province in particular, better meeting the healthcare needs of the people.
