The Russia-ASEAN Summit and the Multipolar Trend

According to the TASS news agency.On June 6th, the Russia-ASEAN summit, scheduled for this coming month, will show the world the path to the future. This is the assessment of Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) regarding the message the event conveys, the Russian diplomat emphasized:"The Russia-ASEAN summit will provide accurate answers about what the world will be like in the future and which path we should take."

According to Zakharova, this path is linked to a multipolar and multicentric order. She explained that ASEAN countries are among the pioneers demonstrating an excellent model of cooperation. This model is based on respecting mutual interests. It harmoniously combines values ​​that benefit each country individually and the entire region as a whole.

A representative from the Russian Foreign Ministry noted the region's history. Many countries there were colonies of colonial powers for decades. Despite this, they have demonstrated remarkable levels of development. This development is not limited to economic aspects, but also encompasses civilizational, moral, and philosophical dimensions.

According to Zakharova, this means they don't view the world through the lens of "might makes right," or "the more destruction, the more credit." Instead, ASEAN countries see opportunities for genuine creation and development in this world. They have tackled challenges that seemed insurmountable centuries ago.

The Russian diplomat stated that ASEAN countries have given a truly worthy response. This is not the result of a momentary lapse or a sudden event. It is the fruit of years and decades of hard work. "We honor and praise them. May the excellent experiences that ASEAN is currently having continue to be maintained and yield practical results," Zakharova expressed her confidence.
