The 2015 Global Rubber Conference took place in Ho Chi Minh City on December 4th, with the participation of 200 delegates from 25 countries.

On the morning of December 4th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the 2015 Global Rubber Conference, organized by the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group in collaboration with Confexhub Group of Malaysia, was held with the participation of 200 delegates from 25 countries. On this occasion, more than 10 countries also brought rubber products to the exhibition.

In 2015, global rubber prices continued to fall. The total export value of the rubber industry worldwide reached $15 billion, less than one-third of the export value of this industry in 2010.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh presented commemorative gifts to representatives of the countries attending the conference.

In Vietnam alone, rubber exports reached 1.1 million tons in 2015, a 10% decrease compared to the previous year. Currently, the country has 977 hectares of rubber plantations, with an estimated production of over 1 million tons. However, the area under rubber cultivation is trending downwards. Some smallholder rubber farmers have had to stop harvesting because the selling price of latex is lower than the production costs.

At this conference, delegates from various countries shared information on the market, trends in rubber tree development, and the latest production and processing techniques in the rubber industry. It also served as a forum for rubber industry leaders and stakeholders to directly exchange views on policies and development strategies, and to strengthen cooperative relationships for mutual development.

Faced with the challenges of the global rubber industry, the Vietnamese rubber industry is implementing solutions to reduce costs, diversify revenue sources from rubber plantations, and promote processing industries to minimize price risks and increase the added value of rubber products. At the same time, it is leveraging the advantages of international trade agreements to access high-value markets in other countries and reduce dependence on raw material exports.

The Vietnam Rubber Industry Group is implementing restructuring in accordance with the Government's policy to increase added value and achieve sustainable development...

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan, the Vietnamese government and relevant ministries and agencies attach great importance to the rubber industry. “We always stand alongside rubber businesses. We are always looking for ways to create mechanisms and policies to support our rubber farmers in developing and improving their lives,” Mr. Tuan said.
