(Baonghean.vn) - On January 14th in Vinh City, the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association held a meeting to summarize its work in 2016 and plan for 2017.

Representatives from ornamental plant associations in the province attended the meeting.

Currently, the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association has nearly 5,000 members, with 114 grassroots associations and 12 clubs. In 2016, the association at all levels actively responded to the policy of transforming production according to market demand, focusing on crafting miniature ornamental plants, developing flower cultivation and family gardens, expanding services, propagating trees for landscaping projects, raising beautiful ornamental animals, and maintaining the development of the ornamental plant production and business movement in the districts of the province.

Several districts and towns have vibrant ornamental plant and tree breeding activities, such as Hoang Mai town, Tan Ky, Anh Son, and Cua Lo. In particular, Quynh Luu district currently has 35,000 ornamental trees of various types and 17,000 miniature potted plants. In the first six months of 2016, they sold 230 potted plants, generating 750 million VND in revenue.

Mr. Nguyen Tat Dien, Chairman of the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association, presented certificates of merit to collectives that achieved outstanding results in 2016.

In Vinh City and Quynh Luu district alone, the ornamental plant and flower industry provides employment for nearly 2,000 workers, with over 100 hectares of ornamental plants and flowers contributing to the transformation of the agricultural and rural economic structure. 240 households in 5 flower villages of Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu) generated 5 billion VND in revenue in 2016. In implementing its tasks for 2017, the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association continued to promote and encourage its members to actively participate in the emulation movement of studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh. Responding to the Spring Tree Planting Festival in accordance with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, each member planted two trees. The association completed the survey and evaluation of its activities during its second term. Personnel for the Executive Committee for the 2017-2022 term were prepared, and the association actively maintained and developed ornamental plants in socio-cultural life, making a practical contribution to building new rural areas and beautifying urban landscapes.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association presented certificates of merit to 11 collectives and 33 individuals who had achieved outstanding results in the emulation movement for the development of ornamental plants in 2016.
