Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association builds many effective models

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 14 in Vinh City, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association held a meeting to summarize the work of 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017.

Representatives of ornamental plant associations in the province attended the meeting.

Currently, Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association has nearly 5,000 members, with 114 grassroots associations and 12 clubs. In 2016, all levels of the association actively responded to the policy of converting production according to market demand, focusing on making miniature bonsai to develop flower growing, family gardens, expanding services, nurturing construction trees, raising beautiful ornamental plants, and maintaining the movement of producing and trading ornamental plants to develop well in districts in the province.

Some districts and towns have a vibrant ornamental plant movement such as Hoang Mai, Tan Ky, Anh Son, and Cua Lo. In particular, Quynh Luu district currently has 35,000 ornamental plants of all kinds, 17,000 mini flower pots, and in the first 6 months of 2016, 230 flower pots were sold, earning 750 million VND.

The ornamental flower industry in Vinh City and Quynh Luu District alone creates jobs for nearly 2,000 workers, with more than 100 hectares of ornamental flowers contributing to the transformation of the agricultural and rural economic structure. 240 households of 5 flower villages in Quynh Hong Commune (Quynh Luu) had a revenue of 5 billion VND in 2016. On this occasion, the Chairman of Nghe An Ornamental Plants Association awarded certificates of merit to 11 groups and 33 individuals who had outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to develop ornamental plants in 2016.
