An application for an international driving permit requires a valid driving license issued by a competent authority in Vietnam and an application form for an international driving permit. Within 5 days of receiving a valid application, the competent authority will issue the international driving permit as requested.
An international driving license issued to Vietnamese citizens will be valid for legal use in 85 countries that are signatories to the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic and the Convention on Road Signs and Signals (referred to as the Vienna Convention).
The international driving license will clearly state which types of cars and motorcycles the holder is permitted to drive. International driving licenses are valid for 1-3 years, as stipulated by the convention. The license is printed in four basic languages: English, French, Russian, and Spanish, as well as the language of the country that issued the license.
