Vietnamese Homestay receives ASEAN award for the first time
Three homestay clusters in Bac Ha, Mai Chau, and Hoi An were awarded the ASEAN House with Rooms for Tourists.
In 2016, Vietnam had 34 tourist accommodation establishments awarded the ASEAN Green Label. This was also the first year Vietnam had 3 clusters of houses with rooms for rent for tourists receiving the ASEAN award.

The ASEAN Green Hotel Standards were developed by ASEAN member countries in 2006 and announced in two periods. The first time was in Thailand in 2008 and the second time was in Brunei in 2012. Every year, 10 accommodation establishments from each member country are nominated for this title.
The ASEAN Homestay Standards were developed by member countries in 2011 and announced in 2012. Every year, there are 5 clusters of ASEAN homestays, each cluster has at least 5 homestays from each member country nominated for this title.

Hoang Anh Dat Xanh Da Lat Resort, Lam Dong.

Hotels that are awarded the ASEAN Green Label must meet standards such as having environmental policies and measures in hotel operations, using green products, managing solid waste, using water resources efficiently, managing air quality, and controlling noise pollution. ASEAN homestays must meet standards of housekeeping, management, proximity to tourist attractions, security, safety and sustainability principles. |
