More than 1,000 Vinh Medical students and lecturers volunteered to participate in the prevention and fight against Covid-19.

After receiving the dispatch from the Minister of Health and the direction of the Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention of Nghe An province, Vinh Medical University urgently deployed many measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.

The school has issued a notice to implement emergency measures and mobilize staff, lecturers and students to volunteer to participate in supporting epidemic prevention and control in localities with epidemics.

Vinh Medical University received more than 1,000 applications from students volunteering to support epidemic prevention and control in localities with epidemics across the country.

Accordingly, the school has invited Nghe An Provincial General Hospital and the provincial CDC Center to organize 3 training sessions for staff, lecturers and students of the school's majors, ready to participate in sample collection, training in work in quarantine areas, patient care, epidemiological investigation and treatment of Covid-19 patients.

In particular, more than 1,000 lecturers and students have volunteered to support the fight against Covid-19 in localities across the country.

Volunteers are lecturers and students in all majors from general practitioners, nurses, and majors related to this epidemic prevention and control work such as public health, preventive medicine, testing, administrative offices, etc.

Currently, the school is screening and selecting to register a list of volunteers to participate in epidemic prevention and control work this time in localities across the country.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Canh Phu - Principal of Vinh Medical University said: The Ministry of Health requires an official list of volunteers participating in epidemic prevention and control work in epidemic areas such as Bac Giang and Bac Ninh. For these volunteer teams, the School is mentally and professionally prepared, the volunteers have been thoroughly trained, and when required, they will immediately participate in epidemic prevention and control work.

As for the Central provinces, specifically Ha Tinh province, the school has committed to the province's Epidemic Prevention Committee to send a team with expertise in the field of testing and sampling from the school's departments to support Ha Tinh when requested. The school is ready in terms of human resources and necessary conditions, and will only need a mobilization order to go on a mission to support the work of epidemic prevention and control.

Besides, the school will create the most favorable conditions as well as have timely reward and encouragement policies for lecturers and students to complete teaching and learning tasks well.

It is known that students of Vinh Medical University have produced hand sanitizer solutions to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic; donated masks and hand sanitizers to concentrated quarantine areas in the province. The Vinh Medical University Trade Union has called on staff and lecturers to support with daily salary and in-kind donations of over 50 million VND (phase 1) to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention fund of Nghe An province.
