Over 1,000 medical students and lecturers in Vinh City have volunteered to participate in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

(Baonghean.vn) - More than 1,000 handwritten applications from students of Vinh Medical University have been received, volunteering to support COVID-19 prevention and control efforts in localities across the country.

Following the directive from the Minister of Health and the guidance from the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Nghe An province, Vinh Medical University has promptly implemented numerous measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school has issued a notice implementing emergency measures and mobilizing staff, faculty, and student volunteers to participate in supporting epidemic prevention and control in localities currently experiencing outbreaks.

Vinh Medical University has received more than 1,000 applications from students volunteering to participate in supporting epidemic prevention and control in localities experiencing outbreaks across the country.

Accordingly, the school invited the Nghe An Provincial General Hospital and the Provincial CDC to organize three training sessions for staff, lecturers, and students from various departments of the school, preparing them to participate in sample collection for testing, training in isolation area work, patient care, epidemiological investigation, and treatment of Covid-19 patients.

In particular, more than 1,000 lecturers and students have already volunteered to participate in supporting the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in localities across the country.

The volunteers are lecturers and students from all disciplines, including general practitioners, nurses, and specialties closely related to this epidemic prevention and control work such as public health, preventive medicine, laboratory testing, and administrative office work.

The school is currently screening and selecting volunteers to register for this round of epidemic prevention and control efforts in localities across the country.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Canh Phu - Rector of Vinh Medical University, said: The Ministry of Health has requested an official list of volunteers participating in epidemic prevention and control work in areas with outbreaks such as Bac Giang and Bac Ninh. For these volunteer teams, the University is prepared both mentally and professionally; the volunteers have received thorough training and are ready to immediately participate in epidemic prevention and control efforts when needed.

As for the central provinces, specifically Ha Tinh province, the school has committed to the provincial epidemic prevention and control committee to send a team of specialists in testing and sample collection from the school's departments to support Ha Tinh when requested. The school is ready in terms of personnel and necessary conditions; as soon as a deployment order is given, they will be ready to go and support the epidemic prevention and control efforts.

In addition, the school will create the most favorable conditions and have timely reward and encouragement policies to help lecturers and students successfully complete their teaching and learning tasks.

It is known that students of Vinh Medical University have independently produced hand sanitizer solutions to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic; and donated face masks and hand sanitizer to centralized quarantine areas in the province. The Trade Union of Vinh Medical University has called on faculty and staff to contribute through daily wages and in-kind donations totaling over 50 million VND (first phase) to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention fund of Nghe An province.
