Over 1,100 tax-free cars arrived in Vietnam in mid-April.
Following the shipments from Honda, the domestic automotive market also recently received over 1,100 tax-exempt vehicles from Thailand during the week of April 13-19.

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the week from April 13 to 19, more than 1,300 complete automobiles of all types were registered for import customs declarations, with a total value of 23.4 million USD. This is the week with the highest volume of imported complete automobiles of all types since the beginning of 2018.
The majority of vehicles registered for import this week were passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer and various types of trucks. Passenger cars with 9 seats or fewer were primarily imported from Thailand, with over 1,000 units, accounting for 96% of the total number of passenger cars with fewer than 9 seats imported nationwide.The value of this batch of vehicles is estimated at $18.9 million.
These vehicles were mainly registered for import at the Hai Phong port area with 666 units (accounting for over 60%) and the Ho Chi Minh City port area with 452 units (accounting for nearly 40%).
According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in addition to vehicles with fewer than 9 seats, during the past week...No customs declarations were filed for the import of automobiles with more than 9 seats.
TDuring the week, 204 vehicles were imported into Vietnam, valued at US$3.93 million. 98% of these vehicles were registered at the Hai Phong port customs area and all originated from Thailand.
