Over 1,200 athletes participated in the Military Region 4 Sports Festival.

(Baonghean.vn) - The Military Region Command recently successfully organized the 2015 Military Region Sports Festival, one of the activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of the Armed Forces of Military Region 4 (October 15, 1945 – October 15, 2015).

Over 1,200 athletes from agencies and units throughout the Military Region competed in men's and women's volleyball; men's and women's doubles badminton, men's and women's singles badminton; men's doubles tennis; men's unarmed combat for officers and professional soldiers; men's non-commissioned officers and soldiers in 9 weight categories from under 51kg to 80kg; and women's unarmed combat in 5 weight categories from under 51kg to 64kg.

Lieutenant General Vo Van Viet – Political Commissar of the Military Region – presented the first, second, and third place overall awards to the winning teams.

The match was between the Political Department's women's volleyball team and the Logistics Department's team.

Major General Dang Trong Quan – Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Region – presented the first, second, and third prizes to the winning teams.

The sports festival is an opportunity for the Military Region to assess the quality of physical training and sports activities of agencies, units, and schools, and at the same time select athletes to form the Military Region team to organize training and participate in the 2015 All-Army Sports Festival.

At the conclusion of the Sports Festival, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the Military Region Staff team, the second prize to the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command team, and two third prizes to the Nghe An and Quang Binh Provincial Military Commands.
