(Baonghean.vn) - Thousands of trees in Vinh City were felled or had their branches broken after Typhoon No. 2. "Trunk litter" is scattered along the roadsides. According to statistics from the Nghe An Provincial Urban Environment Company, over 1,300 tons of debris from fallen trees need to be cleaned up, not including the amount of household waste at collection points.

Mr. Hoang Van Khanh, Director of Nghe An Provincial Urban Environment Company Limited, said: "For the past two days, the company's staff and workers have been working tirelessly, doing overtime and making efforts day and night, but the amount of garbage still cannot be completely cleared."

Normally, Vinh City generates over 300 tons of household waste daily. Typhoon No. 2 left behind over 1,300 tons of waste. Although workers from the Provincial Urban Environment Company Limited worked overtime, the maximum number of trucks that could be mobilized each day was only over 60.

The company also couldn't hire additional vehicles to transport the garbage, as the existing vehicles weren't suitable for the specific purpose of garbage collection.

According to Mr. Khanh, many roads had been cleaned the day before, but the following day, residents gathered branches and debris from their gardens and piled them up along the roadsides. With the amount of trash being many times greater than usual after the storm, it will take the Provincial Urban Environment Company Limited several more days to clear it all.
