More than 14 years in prison for group of people who beat someone to death

(Baonghean.vn) - Just because of a small conflict while sitting around, a group of people beat Mr. Le Huu Anh, residing in Hamlet 11, Quang Son Commune, Do Luong District.leading to death.

On June 24, the People's Court of Do Luong district opened a first-instance criminal trial against: Hoang Van Trung (born in 1988), Nguyen Van Linh (born in 1994), Hoang Dinh Giap (born in 1994) for the crime of Intentional Infliction of Injury; Dang Quang Kien (born in 1992), Dang Quang Sao (born in 199)3; Hoang Van Tuan (born in 1992), all residing in Thai Son commune, Do Luong district, for the crime of "Disturbing public order".

Previously, at around 12:20 p.m. on January 25, 2016, the 6 subjects went to Thanh Cong restaurant in Hamlet 11, Quang Son commune, Do Luong district to eat and drink. At 1:20 p.m. the same day, the group sat together to warm themselves around the wood stove in front of the restaurant.

At that time, Le Huu Anh (born in 1987), residing in hamlet 11, Quang Son commune, Do Luong district) came and sat down to warm up. Here, Le Huu Anh borrowed a pipe from everyone to smoke tobacco, Linh gave the pipe to Anh. While talking, Anh caused a conflict with the group and the two sides rushed to fight.

During the fight, Linh grabbed the pipe from Anh's hand and hit her on the left shoulder. The owner of the restaurant intervened and Anh ran out onto the street. When he reached the Quang Son commune health station, Anh continued to throw bricks at the suspects. The group continued to beat Anh, causing the victim to be seriously injured and had to be taken to the Nghe An Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment.

On January 28, 2016, Anh died due to severe injuries. After committing the crime, the defendants' families met with the victim's family, and the two sides negotiated and agreed to compensate the victim's family with 320 million VND.

At the trial, the court found that the defendants' actions were serious but also partly due to the victim's fault, and the defendants showed remorse, so the panel sentenced Hoang Van Trung to 66 months in prison; Nguyen Van Linh and Hoang Dinh Giap to 40 months in prison each; Dang Quang Sao and Hoang Van Tuan to 12 months in prison each, but with a suspended sentence and 24 months probation.
