Over 2,000 people participated in the opening ceremony of the Que Phong District Sports Festival.
(Baonghean.vn) -Over 2,000 people attended the opening ceremony of the 8th Que Phong District Sports Festival in 2017.on the morning of October 24th.
The congress was attended by representatives from the Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports, leaders of the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee, and leaders from 14 communes and towns in Que Phong district.
The opening ceremony featured 30 marching contingents with over 2,000 participants showcasing their strength and conducting a torch relay from the Martyrs' Cemetery to the district stadium.

Besides comprehensively evaluating the sports and physical education movement, maintaining and promoting the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh," the Congress also aims to preserve and develop mass sports, contributing to improving health and physical fitness for studying, working, contributing to building and defending the Fatherland in the current period.
In recent years, the sports and physical training movement in Que Phong district has developed strongly; the district has integrated it into the New Rural Development program, investing in the construction of facilities and sports fields to serve the needs of people for sports and physical training.
To date, most communes and towns have stadiums, and villages have sports fields for physical activities. Competitions held during holidays have created a sports movement among the people. Que Phong district has also consistently achieved many high results in provincial competitions.

Over 200 athletes from 14 communes and towns participated in this year's sports festival, competing in 8 sports: men's and women's volleyball; stick pushing and archery; tug-of-war; badminton and table tennis; and athletics.
The congress is scheduled to take place from October 24-27.
