The 2024 "Journey to Sen Village" Marathon is one of the activities in the 2024 Sen Village Festival, celebrating the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024).
At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet Newspaper, informed that, in addition to participating in the race, runners also have the opportunity to travel, learn about, and explore the culture of Nghe An province, the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh.

The "Journey to Sen Village" race is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants across four distances: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km. The 5, 10, and 21 km races will start from Binh Minh Square (Cua Lo town), run along the Vinh – Cua Lo axis, and return to Binh Minh Square.
The longest route, 42 km, will start from Kim Lien Historical Site, onto National Highway 46, turn left onto Provincial Road 534 – the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan, then run onto National Highway 46B through VSIP Industrial Park to Vinh Airport intersection, along Le Nin Boulevard, Vinh – Cua Lo Boulevard, Binh Minh Road, turn around at the Lam River embankment and finish at Binh Minh Square (Cua Lo town).

At the press conference, many reporters asked questions related to the operation of the race course during the intense heatwave in Nghe An; ensuring the safety and health of the athletes; and maintaining security, order, and traffic safety as the race distances pass through many important points and intersections.
Responding to reporters' questions, a representative of the Organizing Committee stated that detailed plans have been developed for traffic points to avoid disrupting local traffic. For race distances with many wide, two-way roads, the Organizing Committee plans to request permission for one lane to be reserved for athletes, while the other lane will be for vehicles regulated by traffic police. They also have plans to provide drinking water, fruit, and medical support along the entire route to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes.

During the race, the Organizing Committee plans for the 42km race to start at Kim Lien Historical Site (Nam Dan) at 3:15 AM; the 21km race to start from Binh Minh Square at 3:45 AM; and other distances to start later. The goal is to ensure the last athlete finishes before noon, avoiding the heat.
The Organizing Committee also worked with accommodation establishments in Cua Lo town, Vinh City, Nam Dan, etc., to reduce room rates by 50% for athletes participating in the race to ensure accommodation, while also attracting a large number of people to visit and explore President Ho Chi Minh's hometown.

The Organizing Committee also announced the prize money corresponding to the distances, male and female athletes in the elite and amateur categories, age groups, individuals, families, and participating journalists. The total prize value is 500 million VND (nearly 300 million VND in cash, the rest in kind).
