Over 437 billion VND for Tet gifts for meritorious people
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed to authorize the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to submit to the President for consideration the giving of gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2016. The total estimated cost of the gifts is over 437 billion VND.
The gift level according to the plan submitted to the President is divided into two levels: 400,000 VND and 200,000 VND.

Specifically, the level of 400,000 VND/gift is for the following subjects: Revolutionary activists before January 1, 1945 who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; revolutionary activists from January 1, 1945 to before the August 19, 1945 General Uprising who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; Vietnamese heroic mothers who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; heroes of the people's armed forces, heroes of labor in the resistance war who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; relatives of martyrs who are receiving monthly allowances for foster care, relatives of two or more martyrs who are receiving monthly allowances.
In addition, there are war invalids, sick soldiers, and people who enjoy policies like war invalids with a reduced working capacity due to injury or illness of 81% or more (including war invalids of type B recognized before December 31, 1993) who are receiving monthly preferential allowances; people who have contributed to the revolution and are receiving monthly nursing allowances; resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals with a reduced working capacity of 81% or more who are receiving monthly preferential allowances.
With a gift level of 200,000 VND/gift for the following subjects: War invalids, sick soldiers, people who enjoy policies like war invalids with reduced working capacity due to injury or illness from 80% or less (including type B war invalids recognized before December 31, 1993) who are receiving monthly preferential allowances.
This level is also for war invalids who are receiving disability benefits; representatives of the main relatives of martyrs (father, mother; wife, husband; children; people who have raised martyrs); representatives of families who worship martyrs (brothers, sisters, people authorized by the family to worship martyrs); people who have contributed to the revolution and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; resistance fighters who are infected with toxic chemicals and have reduced working capacity by 80% or less and are receiving monthly preferential allowances; revolutionary and resistance fighters who were imprisoned or exiled by the enemy and are receiving monthly preferential allowances.
