More than 50 youth union members help people harvest melons to escape the flood
(Baonghean.vn) - Prolonged heavy rain has flooded about 70 hectares of summer-autumn watermelon in Nghi Loc district. To overcome this situation, on the morning of July 17, Nghi Long commune's Youth Union and the commune's Youth Volunteer Club mobilized members to go to the fields to help people harvest watermelons.

After a campaign, the youth union members of Nghi Long commune helped people harvest more than 10 tons of melons.

This summer-autumn crop, Nghi Loc produced more than 85 hectares of melons, concentrated in the communes of Nghi Long, Nghi Trung and Nghi Thach. Of these, 15 hectares of early summer-autumn melons from the two communes have been harvested, while 70 hectares of winter-spring melons were entering the harvest period when heavy rains hit, causing heavy damage to the people.

In the coming days, the Youth Union will continue to coordinate with local organizations to actively help many families clean up and repair their houses and outbuildings to promptly respond to storms and floods.
