Over 50 youth union members helped people harvest watermelons to escape the flood.
(Baonghean.vn) - Prolonged heavy rain has flooded approximately 70 hectares of summer-autumn watermelon crops in Nghi Loc district. To remedy this situation, on the morning of July 17th, the Nghi Long commune youth union and the commune's volunteer youth club mobilized their members to help farmers harvest the watermelons.

After a day of volunteer work, youth union members in Nghi Long commune helped local people harvest more than 10 tons of watermelons.

This summer-autumn season, Nghi Loc district cultivated over 85 hectares of melons, mainly concentrated in the communes of Nghi Long, Nghi Trung, and Nghi Thach. Of this, 15 hectares of early summer-autumn cantaloupe in two communes have already been harvested, while 70 hectares of the main crop, which was entering the harvesting period, were hit by heavy rain, causing significant damage to farmers.

In the coming days, the Youth Union will continue to coordinate with local organizations to actively participate in helping many families clean up and repair their houses and outbuildings to respond promptly to the storm situation.
