More than ten million dong in lucky money from 180 countries
A collection of lucky money from 180 countries is being sold by businesses for more than 11 million VND, guaranteed to be real money.
More than a month before Tet, lucky money traders have started importing and selling "unique" money to serve the market. Having been in business for several years, this is the first time Ms. Tuyet has imported a set of 180 national currencies to sell. According to her, the money is still very new, almost unused. Each set costs about 11.5 million VND.
"There are many old bills abroad, sold everywhere and at a cheap price, only half or a third. But giving old bills as gifts during the New Year is bad luck, so I work hard to find and collect new bills. Because they are harder to find, the price will be higher than old bills," said Ms. Tuyet.
She said that last month, if customers wanted to buy, they would have to wait about a week. But now that Tet is near, demand has increased so the store has imported goods for sale.
The seller also said that these bills are all real, with different denominations, no duplicates and can be spent. She committed to compensate if counterfeit money is discovered. Each bill is kept in a plastic bag by the seller, with the corner of the bill having a national flag attached.

In addition to the unique and first-time appearance of 180 countries' banknotes, the market also has a set of 50-170 countries' banknotes, with prices ranging from a few hundred thousand to over 8 million VND. But the best-selling set of 52 notes from 28 countries, priced at 450,000-500,000 VND. These are the smallest denominations of the countries. Customers who buy each collection will receive a red lucky money envelope made of silk mixed with brocade.
Ms. Ngoc - the owner of an online shop selling this product in Hanoi said that she sells 20-30 sets a day, and maybe more near Tet.

In addition to paper money, lucky money sets of coins from different countries are also popular this year, and the prices are quite reasonable. Lucky money sets of 180 countries are only 1/10 of the price of paper money, about 1.5 million VND. Coins from 120 countries cost 950,000 VND, 50 countries are 500,000 VND...
This year, the $2 gold-plated note with a mouse image is still popular, priced at VND300,000 - VND350,000 per note. The Macau 100-dollar note, priced at VND100,000 per note, is also sought after by many people.
Mr. Huy, owner of an online store in Thanh Xuan (Hanoi), said that business people collect two types of money, including real money issued by the Bank of Macau, and souvenir money printed by companies in China at half the price. But Mr. Huy still recommends buying real money from Macau because real money is a little more expensive but is still better for keeping.
