He met Hoa Tran while performing in a program at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, where Hoa Tran worked. They got to know each other, fell in love, and got married in 2007. At that time, Viet Hoan was 40 years old, while Hoa Tran was only 22.

Trong Tan admitted that he and his wife inevitably have their disagreements: "My wife and I have argued many times, mainly about raising and caring for our children. However, we reconcile quite quickly because we don't want the family atmosphere to be tense and affect the children's psychology. As a man, I usually take the initiative to mediate first."

The singer said that he occasionally surprises his wife with gifts on her birthday or holidays. However, his wife doesn't take it too seriously.
