The 1978 Honda Cub 50 is one of the earliest Cub models to appear in Vietnam, both in the North and the South, as a used vehicle, a source of income for ocean-going sailors in the late 1990s.

The original engine is a 4-stroke SOHC 49cc engine.The durable Cub 79 motorcycles, with their swallow-wing design, are no exception to the "rule" of being built to last. Even though they are used, they remain valuable assets for many families in the post-Doi Moi (Renovation) era. The Cub became a leading means of transport in Vietnam in terms of load capacity and versatility, a position it maintained for nearly 20 years.

With its simple design, easy starting, high cargo capacity, and infrequent breakdowns, the Cub 79 (swallow-winged) motorcycle can still occasionally be seen on the streets of Saigon.The trucks carrying goods from the wholesale market, or the bulky ice trucks zipping through the streets, are easily recognizable to outsiders.Characteristic shape: a curved head and swallow-like wings.

According to a car collector in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, for many years...Previously, owning one like that to cruise around town was not easy at all, whileVehicles are now just a means of transportation.

"For Vietnamese people, the memories associated with motorcycles from the past can never be erased, even if they later switch to cars. These Cub-style bikes evoke many happy and sad stories. That's what makes them valuable," he added.
