HONOR unveils Blade Battery 7,000mAh for ultra-thin foldable smartphones.
At MWC 2026, HONOR introduced its new Blade Battery technology with extremely high energy density, enabling the installation of 7,000mAh batteries into foldable devices that are just a few millimeters thick.
At the MWC 2026 technology exhibition, HONOR attracted significant attention by showcasing its Blade Battery technology. This is a battery line specifically designed for foldable devices, allowing for capacities exceeding 7,000mAh while maintaining an ultra-slim design.
The 6,660 mAh battery power in the slim 4.0mm body of the Magic V6.
In addition to introducing new technology, HONOR also launched the Magic V6 foldable smartphone. This device made a strong impression with its slim profile of only 4.0mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded. Despite its thin and lightweight design, the device is still equipped with a large 6,660 mAh battery.
This achievement is the result of a collaboration between HONOR and battery manufacturer ATL. The battery in the Magic V6 utilizes fifth-generation Silicon-Carbon (Si-C) material, with a silicon content of 25% – the highest in the smartphone industry today. Increasing the silicon ratio allows for greater energy density in the same volume, addressing the space constraints of foldable devices.
The Blade Battery Era: Energy Density Exceeds 900Wh/L
At MWC 2026, HONOR continued to unveil new advancements with its Silicon-Carbon Blade Battery. This technology is expected to increase the silicon content to 32%, helping energy density exceed 900Wh/L. This opens up the possibility of equipping future foldable smartphones with 7,000mAh or higher batteries, a technical hurdle previously considered insurmountable for thin and lightweight designs.

The design is inspired by a knife blade.
The name "Blade" reflects the battery's thin and sharp physical structure. To demonstrate the thinness and durability of this structure, HONOR performed a unique demonstration with Rick Smith Jr., the Guinness World Record holder for throwing cards. He used the Blade Battery itself to perform fruit-cutting actions, similar to the real-life Fruit Ninja game.
Optimizing battery life without increasing device thickness is one of the key competitive advantages. If the Blade Battery 7,000mAh is commercialized soon, it will be a turning point that helps foldable smartphones overcome the inherent weakness in energy consumption compared to traditional phones.
