(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 18, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung chaired an online meeting on the prevention of storm No. 3, internationally known as Than Set, with affected provinces and cities. At the Nghe An bridge, there were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, members of the Standing Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of the province, and leaders of a number of relevant departments and agencies.

According to the forecast of the Central Hydrometeorological Center, storm No. 3 moves slowly, at a speed of 10 - 15km/h, with a wide storm circulation with a radius of 200km, and is likely to enter the Gulf of Tonkin and then strengthen. When storm No. 3 makes landfall in Vietnam, winds will be from level 10 to level 11, with gusts of level 12 to level 14. The storm's affected area from Quang Ninh province to Nghe An province will have strong winds of level 6 or higher.
Tomorrow (August 19), the storm will make landfall, potentially causing widespread heavy rain with rainfall of 200 - 300mm. Heavy rain may also occur in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas; there will be strong winds of level 6 to level 8, gusting to level 9 to level 11.

To cope with storm No. 3, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Nghe An province issued urgent dispatch No. 24/CD.UBND (at 8:00 a.m. on August 18, 2016) directing units and localities to strengthen measures to prevent storms and the risk of flooding caused by storms.
By 10:00 a.m. on August 18, following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, coastal localities including Hoang Mai Town, Cua Lo, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc districts, had called on 100% of boats to enter safe shelters. At the same time, strictly check the organization of anchoring for boats in storm shelters, not leaving people on boats.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung requested localities in the area affected by storm No. 3 to regularly update information and proactively respond to the storm's developments. Special attention should be paid to solutions to evacuate people and property in vulnerable areas when necessary, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property, and minimizing damage caused by the storm and its circulation.
