Particularly from 2012 to the present, the district has implemented a policy of supporting the cost of artificial insemination for outlying communes including Hung Tay, Hung Yen Nam, Hung Yen Bac, and Hung Trung, where people mainly raise small-sized grass-fed cattle, in order to improve the productivity and quality of the herd. As a result, to date, these four communes have supported the insemination of over 1,500 doses of Sindhi crossbred bull semen, contributing to raising the percentage of crossbred cattle from 23% in 2012 to 39% in 2015.
In 2015, Hung Nguyen district had 2,103 cows bred using artificial insemination, achieving a rate of 86%. Currently, the total cattle herd in Hung Nguyen district is 14,642, of which 9,140 are crossbred cows, accounting for 62.49%. Hung Nguyen is currently continuing to effectively implement the policy of supporting artificial insemination to improve the quality of the cattle herd. In 2016, the district aims to have 2,500-300 crossbred Sindhi cows bred through artificial insemination.
