Hung Nguyen approves plan to merge 10 communes.

On the afternoon of August 30th, the 19th term of the Hung Nguyen District People's Council held its 9th session to approve the plan for merging commune-level administrative units.

Hung Nguyen district has 23 communes and towns, of which 7 communes have not yet met 50% of both criteria regarding population and area, including Hung Thang, Hung Tien, Hung Xa, Hung Nhan, Hung Phu, Hung Khanh, and Hung Lam. In line with the policy of merging commune-level administrative units to streamline the apparatus and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of local government operations, Hung Nguyen district has developed a plan to merge three adjacent communes: Hung Long, Hung Xuan, and Hung Chau, bringing the total number of communes to be merged to 10 in order to meet the required criteria.

Accordingly, Hung Long commune will merge with Hung Xa to form Long Xa commune; Hung Xuan will merge with Hung Lam to form Xuan Lam commune; Hung Phu will merge with Hung Khanh to form Hung Thanh commune; Hung Nhan commune will merge with Hung Chau to form Chau Nhan commune; and Hung Tien commune will merge with Hung Thang to form Hung Nghia commune. After the mergers, Hung Nguyen district will have 18 communes and towns.
