Notes when using car headlights
When using car headlights, drivers need to note:
Do not use high beams in urban areas or residential areas. Because high beams can easily cause glare, affecting oncoming vehicles. When driving in urban areas, only use low beams. The Traffic Law also clearly stipulates this. According to the Road Traffic Law, if a car uses high beams in residential areas, it will be fined from 800,000 to 1,000,000 VND.
You should use headlights when driving on highways, suburban roads, two-way roads with dividers, etc. Because headlights will provide better light, helping the driver have a more comprehensive view. However, when using headlights, if you encounter oncoming vehicles in very dark road conditions, you should reduce speed and switch to low beam to avoid blinding oncoming drivers.
You should use high-beams and flashers when you need to pass or ask for the right of way instead of honking your horn. Because cars are usually closed, it will be difficult to hear if you are too far away. Using high-beams instead of honking also reduces noise pollution.
If you see an oncoming vehicle flashing its high beams, you should check to see if your headlights are on. Drivers often flash their high beams to remind each other of this.
