Huong Giang chose a white Ao Dai for Miss Universe 2025
The Vietnamese representative surprised everyone when she chose the national costume, a pure white Ao Dai, carrying a personal story about a dream from her school days.
Ahead of the National Costume competition at Miss Universe 2025, Vietnam's representative Huong Giang announced a surprising choice: a traditional white ao dai called "The Long Dream Dress". This decision goes against the trend of elaborate, grand designs often seen at the competition, instead focusing on cultural significance and personal stories.

The chosen costume is the image of the white ao dai associated with Vietnamese schoolgirls, not only representing the culture but also symbolizing Huong Giang’s own youthful dream. She shared that she once dreamed of wearing ao dai to school like her friends, and bringing this image to the international stage was a way to realize that old dream.
Huong Giang said: "There will not be any grand costumes for Huong Giang's National Costume. There will only be the image of a schoolgirl carrying her books to school, pushing her bicycle and walking on the stage of the 74th Miss Universe." The message she wants to convey is that dreams may come late but will come true in the most beautiful way.
Strategy to suit Miss Universe trends
Huong Giang’s choice is considered a smart and courageous move. Instead of competing for grandeur, she focuses on conveying cultural stories and personal emotions. Huong Giang will participate in the National Costume competition on the morning of November 19, followed by the Semi-Final round on the same evening. The Miss Universe 2025 Final is scheduled to take place on November 21. Currently, many artists and close friends are present in Thailand to support her.
