Huong Giang chose a white Ao Dai for Miss Universe 2025.
The Vietnamese representative surprised everyone by choosing a pristine white Ao Dai as her national costume, carrying with it a personal story about a dream she had during her school days.
Ahead of the National Costume segment at Miss Universe 2025, Vietnam's representative, Huong Giang, announced a surprising choice: a traditional white ao dai dress called "The Long Dream Dress." This decision goes against the trend of elaborate and grandiose designs often seen at the competition, instead focusing on cultural significance and personal story.

A different choice and a personal story.
The chosen outfit, a white ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) associated with Vietnamese schoolgirls, not only represents the culture but also symbolizes Huong Giang's youthful dreams. She shared that she once longed to wear an ao dai to school like her friends, and bringing this image to the international stage is a way to realize that childhood dream.
Huong Giang stated: "There will be no extravagant outfits for Huong Giang's National Costume. Just the image of a schoolgirl carrying her books to school, riding her bicycle confidently onto the stage at the 74th Miss Universe pageant." Her message is that dreams may come late, but they will become reality in the most beautiful way.

The strategy aligns with the Miss Universe trend.
Huong Giang's choice is considered a smart and courageous move. Instead of competing on grandeur, she focused on conveying her cultural story and personal emotions. This approach perfectly aligns with the spirit that the Miss Universe organization has been pursuing in recent years, emphasizing the voices and inspiring stories of the contestants.
Looking back at impressive Vietnamese designs
In the past, Vietnamese representatives often made a strong impression with their elaborate and intricate national costumes. Examples include Miss Ky Duyen's "Ngoc Diep Ky Nam," Miss Khanh Van's "Ken Em," and Ngoc Chau's "Chieu Ca Mau." Each design tells a unique cultural story and leaves a lasting impression on the international stage.

Huong Giang will participate in the National Costume competition on the morning of November 19th, followed by the Semi-finals that evening. The Miss Universe 2025 Grand Finale is scheduled for November 21st. Currently, many artists and close friends have arrived in Thailand to show their support for her.
