For one hour on the evening of March 24th, 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam switched off their electricity, reducing the use of electrical appliances and saving 485,000 kWh, equivalent to 834 million VND.

On the evening of March 24th, according to data from the National Power System Dispatch Center, after one hour of officially switching off lights for Earth Hour 2018 (from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on March 24th), the amount of electricity saved nationwide was 485,000 kWh, equivalent to approximately 834 million VND.

Compared to previous years when this campaign was launched, the amount of electricity saved is greater.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that, along with approximately 7,000 cities in over 180 countries worldwide, all 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam simultaneously switched off their lights and reduced the use of electrical appliances to participate in the Earth Hour campaign.

Earth Hour is an annual event, an initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

This event contributed to saving a portion of electricity consumption. The Earth Hour 2018 campaign helped raise public awareness of energy conservation and efficiency, protect the environment, and proactively respond to global climate change.
